86 Year Old GOP Congressman Introduces Bill to Gut Social Security

Social Security advocates were shocked last week when Rep. Sam Johnson (R-TX) (pictured), the chair of the House subcommittee on Social Security, introduced a bill to little fanfare that would impose major cuts to the popular retirement insurance program.

Introduced on the last day of the session?

Bush V Gore Supreme Court Decision Opens Door For Challenge of Presidential Election Results

Why are we reading this in British newspapers and not seeing it on the evening news? Why are Dems such wimps?

so far, the Democrats have been "timid" about doing this, he said."It is striking to see how committed they are to allowing this train wreck to occur," he said. "And more surprisingly, how little careful attention has been given (at the top at least) to just how vulnerable—given Bush v. Gore—the current (system for counting votes in the) electoral college is".
...the current system represents an "unconstitutional violation of the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment and its bedrock principle of one man one vote," and therefore the election result could in theory be overturned by a court...Mr Lessig criticised the failure of those "at the top" to consider launching a legal challenge.

"Why are these big states standing by quietly as their voters are essentially silenced by the unconstitutional inequality?"
"What about the unfairness being felt by the millions of voters whose votes were effectively diluted, or essentially disenfranchised?" he said, suggesting the Attorney Generals of large states such as New York or California could easily walk into the Supreme Court and ask them to hear a case.

A Bipartisan Effort to Not Elect Trump is Gaining Steam

The Hamilton plan gains steam: Texas Republican elector goes rogue, saying he won’t vote for Trump

“The United States was set up as a republic. Alexander Hamilton provided a blueprint for states’ votes,” Suprun writes. “Federalist 68 argued that an Electoral College should determine if candidates are qualified, not engaged in demagogy, and independent from foreign influence. Mr. Trump shows us again and again that he does not meet these standards. Given his own public statements, it isn’t clear how the Electoral College can ignore these issues, and so it should reject him.”

Hillary Clinton now leads Trump by over 2% of the popular vote and has the second most votes of any Presidential candidate in history.  Do not think for one moment that if the Electoral College removes Trump that Hillary will be President. The decision would go to the heavily GOP dominated House with John Kasich being the early favorite.

And don;t think this move is coming from just Dems...Republican elector Christopher Suprun of Texas wrote an op-ed in The New York Times on Monday that he cannot vote for Trump because “now I am asked to cast a vote on Dec. 19 for someone who shows daily he is not qualified for the office.”

Are YOU Un-American?

Hey all my former FaceBook friends who unfriended me when I pointed out that you were repeating lies and propaganda, check this out and, if you are decent and honest, you'll join in the effort to clean up American journalism and hold Trump accountable if the Electoral College fails to protect us.

Just How Corrupt is the GOP Held Congress that Won't Investigate Russian Involvement in Installing Trump into the Presidency?

"...And so we have a story here that plays like a James Bond movie — Russian oligarchs; a smart, but immoral anarchist bent on destroying the U.S. government in Assange; a president-elect with suspicious business ties; Russian hackers; and a Russian dictator who literally even looks like a Bond villain.

Yet, there's no massive news story here?"

...Donald Trump Jr., told a real estate conference in 2008 that "Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets," adding, "we see a lot of money pouring in from Russia."

...Trump's former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, also had extensive ties to Russia through his work in Ukraine. A recently unearthed ledger found his name listed alongside large cash payments.

...Assange, that anti-Clinton cyber-terrorist who may have been Trump's second-best ally (after FBI Director James Comey), had his own Russian TV show not too long ago."

Having Trouble Accepting that America Could Elect Trump? There's a Good Reason

According to the exit polls conducted by Edison Research, Clinton won four key battleground states (NC, PA, WI, and FL) in the 2016 Presidential Election that she went on to lose in the computerized vote counts.  With these states Clinton wins the Electoral College with a count of 306 versus 232 for Trump. Clinton also won the national exit poll by 3.2% and holds a narrow lead in the national vote count still in progress.
Exit polls were conducted in 28 states. In 23 states the discrepancies between the exit polls and the vote count favored Trump. In 13 of these states the discrepancies favoring Trump exceeded the margin of error of the state.

Other little things make me unable to accept the results, such as Clinton winning every precinct in Wisconsin that had paper ballots and losing precincts with electronic machines. Statistics don't work that way.

Here's the research.

The Statement That Has Trump Foaming and Frothing in False Moral Outrage

"Thank you for joining us at Hamilton: An American Musical. We are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights. We hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values, and work on behalf of all of us. Thank you."
Of course all this is just another manufactured Trump PR stunt to distract that he just paid over $25 million to settle his trial for FRAUD! This is unprecedented in American history!

On Friday, the President-elect of the United States agreed to pay $25 million for defrauding students of his not-a-university. That settlement includes $1 million in payments to the State of New York for violations of state law. During the campaign, Trump had denied he would ever settle, saying it was “a matter of principle.” However, he’s now treating the $25 million payout as a victory, calling it a “fraction” of his potential losses.
But less than 48 hours later, you won’t find the story on the front of the New York Times, despite New York AG Eric Schneiderman’s dogged work in assembling the case. You wont find it on the front of theWashington Post, despite the outrageous implications of a president paying out tens of millions weeks before taking office. You won’t find it on the Miami Herald, despite the connection between Trump’s “university” and contributions to Florida’s AG that had all the earmarks of old-fashioned bribes.

Russia Hacked Our Election! Why Isn't This Dominating our News Cycles?

On Tuesday, the director of the National Security Agency, Admiral Michael Rogers, was asked about the WikiLeaks release of hacked information during the campaign, and he said, "This was a conscious effort by a nation-state to attempt to achieve a specific effect." He added, "This was not something that was done casually. This was not something that was done by chance. This was not a target that was selected purely arbitrarily."
This was a stunning statement that has echoed other remarks from senior US officials. He was saying that Russia directly intervened in the US election to obtain a desired end: presumably to undermine confidence in US elections or to elect Donald Trump—or both.

Buzz for 2-23-16 (It's crazy out there)

Our state GOP continues to take local decisions away from locals and turn them over to people who live other places, specifically our TN legislators who obviously have taken to that notion of "Central Planning" over local control. In this case it is the will of Nashville taxpayers that they be able to spend a portion of their tax dollars to create jobs for Nashvillians. This is obviously not fair to non-Nashvillians who want that Nashville money for themselves. It is interesting to see our GOP controlled legislature skip right over socialism, which they would denounce to a person) and go off the deep end to communism. Yep, central planning is the great fallacy of Communism and yet here we are seeing our legislators embrace the concept. To be fair, this only happens when local governments try to keep tax money in their local communities to boost local economies and provide local jobs.

President Obama...Appoint a Warrior Not an Appeaser

I'm calling on President Obama to appoint a strongly Progressive person to the United States Supreme Court...Someone who will read the Constitution as protecting "We, the People" rather than twisting it to serve corporate masters and the politically powerful... To place before the Senate a person who will frighten conservatives with an unyielding dedication to "Truth, Justice, and the American way"...Someone who understands that free speech is not money spread so unequally in an increasingly oligarchical society.

Surely there is a person of judicial stature who believes in facts and that truth and honesty and ethics are qualities to be revered and that Supreme Court decisions are not trinkets to be traded for luxury hunting trips or lobbying fees to a spouse or speaking fees for appearances before secretive right wing organizations.

For the sake of our Nation appoint that person! Please do not forsake our children's future by appointing someone who appears moderate to extremists.

President Obama, give us a lion not a lamb!

Young Voters Overwhelmingly Reject Hillary's Message

It is a statement as to my chronological age that I consider 39 to be the dividing line between young and old (for the purposes of this analysis only). I take one thing away from last night's Iowa caucus: Young Americans don't like the world that the old establishment is going to leave them with and are determined to change that.
According to the entrance polls, which wrongly predicted a Clinton victory, Sanders got eighty-six per cent of the Democratic vote in the seventeen-to-twenty-four age group, eighty-one per cent in the twenty-five-to-twenty-nine group, and sixty-five per cent in the thirty-to-thirty-nine age group.
The youth of America are going with the message carried by the oldest candidate in this race, Bernie Sanders. More

The Nation Tells us Why We Need Bernie Sanders as Our Next President

This is  a must read for any rational voter who makes their voting decisions for themselves. An excerpt:

Voters can trust Sanders because he doesn’t owe his political career to the financial overlords of the status quo. Freed from these chains of special interest, he can take the bold measures that the country needs. Sanders alone proposes to break up the too-big-to-fail banks; to invest in public education, from universal pre-K to tuition-free public college; to break the power of the insurance and pharmaceutical cartels with Medicare for All reforms. He alone proposes to empower workers with a living wage. He alone stands ready to put Americans to work rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure, and to confront climate change by making the United States a leader in renewable energy. His audacious agenda proves that money in politics doesn’t widen debate; rather, it narrows the range of possibility. While Sanders understands this, we fear that his chief rival for the Democratic nomination does not.

I hope you'll take the time to read this essay from The Nation:

The Nation endorses Bernie Sanders
